Writing (day X)

I've sort of lost track of how many days I've gone. And I haven't written a whole lot during the past week. I've been busy with other things, and I've caught a rather horrible cold so I'm unable to concentrate over longer periods of time.

But I have gotten into a side-project. It'll be more suitable for children than the main project. So if I can find my writing skills during this time of illness and terribly stressful other things to do (I do like winning elections, so I've got to do some of work there, see), I'll probably continue that one mainly. At least until my cold goes away and the election-stuff calms down a bit. The first part is always the worst. Then we hit our stride, and it's a piece of cake (I want cake now. Give me cake).

The thing I like about the children's project is that it's much easier to write, and edit, and I've got freer reigns. I can do whatever I like. And I've written a not very good fairytale for it, amongst other things. The not very good fairytale is on purpose, as the main guy isn't a very good writer. It's a lot of fun, and I've planned it more or less out, at least the general parts. I have written the ending, but that'll change. A lot. Not at all happy with it. The main aim is for children to read it, ask their parents "Who's this person?" and they'll learn about "this person" together.

At least my intentions are good. And I'm about 1300 words into it, so a total combined word count would be about 3000. Which is mostly from when I started keeping tabs on myself, and to my last blogpost. That's not bad, I think.

I reckon it's time for a cup of tea with honey.

Tea and writing (day 3)

I'm glad I got drunk rather than trying to force my brain yesterday. It was the perfect plan, as it turns out. I've avoided worst of the hangover, and I'm having a jolly good time creating more pieces of my world. It's more or less flowing from the pen (or computer keyboard).

I've made myself a lot of water for, set up my cups and cans and teas and filters. Personal goal is writing 250 words per cup of tea, and it's working, as I've got over 400 words out of my first cup (and a blog post). Not only is it a wonderful thing to drink and experiment with (I'm going to save up different types of it and try mixing myself a brand new blend one day), but it actually make work easier for me. Music's okay too, I suppose, but I get easily distracted (should probably turn off the TV, so I can't keep glancing up at the news channel. Puerh tea is lovely, and I give it my recommendation.

I'll update this later on when I've finished my tea, and tallied up the words.

Edit: 4 cups of tea, making the goal 1000 words. I managed 1251, so 251 words more than my goal. Pretty happy about that.

Writing (Day 2)

Well. Today hasn't been a very productive day of writing. My word count is at -2. Pro: I got rid of some stupid wording. Con: It's shorter than it was yesterday.

But sometimes It's neat to just drop everything, and get drunk.

Planning & Writing (Day 1)

I've been planning this thing for quite some time. If you count the last time I ventured into that particular world, I suppose you could say it's been three years in planning. It'd mostly be a lie, though. I completely forgot about it since then.

I'm not sure what made me remember it, but it clicked. It clicked so very hard. Like someone was holding a computer mouse up to my eardrums and clicking it rapidly (please don't try this at home). I just knew, I knew it would be awesome to give it another go. And so I did. I've been planning the general story, some of the characters, and some of the subplots.

But they aren't really subplots. They're more like short stories, contained to themselves, but in line with the overall tone and story of the place. And I finally figured I had enough planned to get to writing. Last night I wrote a short paragraph, and today a longer part of the story, both hilariously out of context, but both to be used in some form or another in the actual thing.

So I started writing. And it's going splendidly. I'm up to 1000 words right now, just taking a short break to type this up. No one will ever read it, but I figured I'd keep track of how I'm doing. I'll try to update every day, but I fear I'll forget all about this blog-thing and carry on without it. But I figure it's not the worst thing to try. If somone happens to read it at least I've got a goal to achieve. Write a book so fantastic, so amazing that the one person to stumble across my recording of myself would like to read it.

That is all for now. Have a fine evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Edit: Finished up for today at 1005 words. Progress!
